Passion for Technology
Junior Internet of Things
In our technology workspace you can experience tomorrow’s technology, today! Before you walk into our special space, you already know: This will not be an ordinary day!
We present a safe place for our juniors to work with other visitors. This is a place for our challenging STEM themes including 3D design, programming, soldering, Arduino, 3D printing, electronics, mechatronics.
Junior IOT is exactly this: the opportunity to discover your inspiration, to investigate technology possibilities of today and to develop the skills needed for the challenges of tomorrow.
Our dutch website shows the dates for our workshops in Alkmaar, and you may find other details and secrets – please visit https://junioriot.nl/ (in dutch only)
Learning goals
Technology skills: explore, design and build. With our gentle help, each student explores the basic skills for today’s technology. We invite our participants to build their own variations – based on generic components, so everyone can repeat and expand at their own kitchen table to further share the inspiration.
Teamwork. After a brief introduction it becomes visible which students are more natural to pick up a role as helper and guide – mostly to the surprise of their own teachers.
Explore and learn to grow. While helping each other, individuals will iscover their own power to discover skills and knowledge. This independent learning creates the ability to invent a whole new furure!

An inspiring start with STEM
Junior IOT gives your technology experience an inspiring start. We have prepared our most favourite workshops for you:
- Mini bot workshop.
Your first and easy experience with electronics and the soldering iron. 30-45 minutes, groups of 8 students, age 8+ - Follow-up soldering:
Free format soldering workshop, add a switch and more items. Gifted students build their light piano. Help each other to invent your own creation.
- First steps with Arduino Blink.
Your first and inspiring programming experience. 45-60 minutes, groups of 8 students, age 8+ - Follow-up Arduino Blink Extreme with more leds and effects. Extra challenge is found in building a programmable RGB led and try to create Purple.
- Arduino Sweeper, add one eservo to make things move. 45-60 minutes, groups of 8 students, age 8+
- Follow-up servo workshop.
A series of guided and free-format workshops. From building the inexpensive spider bot frame, students learn to make their own 3-servo robot arm.
The Junior Challenge
In our challenges we take technology one step furter. Usually it takes each team 8 weeks (half days) of experimenting, learning, planning, designing to create their own item. We try to create an epic demonstration in which students can demonstrate their own creations.
Questions and information
We are a growing organisation – not every idea or project has made it to our website. Our most experienced participants use their free time to invent more creations in our technology makerspace each saturday afternoon.
Please share your inspirations and your questions with us!
