Connecting CHIPS of Europe with Junior IOT through Infineon Technologies

In Work Package 4 (WP4) of the CHIPS of Europe project, teachers play a vital role in inspiring and educating the next generation of engineers and technicians. As multipliers, teachers have the power to shape the minds of their students and influence their career choices. By providing teachers with the necessary tools and resources, the CHIPS of Europe project aims to spark their interest in semiconductor technology and empower them to pass on their knowledge to their students.

At CHIPS of Europe, the importance of teachers in filling the young talent pipeline and addressing the skills gap in the semiconductor industry is recognized. That’s why the project is committed to supporting teachers through various activities and events, including workshops, training sessions, and hands-on experiments.

One such example of the project’s collaboration with teachers is its partnership between Infineon Technologies AG and Junior IOT, a Dutch organization that offers innovative and interactive STEM education programs. Julia, a team member of Infineon Technologies AG and Project Funding Manager of Chips of Europe, discovered Junior IOT’s activities on the internet and reached out to Marco, the founder, via LinkedIn. They then had the opportunity to meet each other at the SEMICON conference in Munich, where Julia could see firsthand the amazing work that Junior IOT is doing.

After their meeting, they decided to collaborate on an event for teachers in May 2026, where a full day of experiments and hands-on workshops is waiting for the teachers from all over Austria. The goal of this event is to give teachers the tools and experience they need to inspire their students and make learning fun and interactive.

Through this collaboration, the CHIPS of Europe project aims to create a ripple effect that will inspire a new generation of engineers and technicians to pursue careers in the semiconductor industry. By empowering teachers and providing them with the necessary resources, the project is confident that it can make a positive impact on the future of the industry and address the skills gap that threatens to hinder its growth.
